my red sided ate, one of the eurthyristic (spelling?) a female wanted to be on my hand. a male het melanistic curled up in my hand and was happy enough to stay there. otherwise I've not tried to hold or interact with them yet. They seem to be thinking "wtf?!?" The easterns didn't touch food. they all seemed much more interested in finding out how tall their enclosure is.

two of the easterns are now eatting. my red sides all seem to want to just be left alone. I am not going to try to force them to be held. I'm going to simply start letting them get used to my hand in a few days once they don't all dive for cover when I walk near. I think the woman who delivered them was not at all careful. she came to the door with the box on its side under her arm and then handed it to me upside down. she appoligized when I freaked and told me she didn't realize that it contained live animals. So I don't blame them for being a bit freaked. I was surprised they ate so fast.

when the other half gets home I shall ask him to take some pics *if* we can find a camera. I have my 35mm and its macro lens would be wonderful for these little ones, but its not digital. (I'm not a new tech sort of person- most new tech just makes me want to get a horse and buggy)

The little snow redsided did crawl up into my hand when I was putting a bit more trout into the enclosure. the trout is a huge hit. the night crawlers- not so much. one has a huge bulge as it swallowed something a bit too big sideways. but its going down and the little one (an eastern female) if anything seems more fiesty and active now. *shrug* plenty of time to worry later...

I think mine poop in the water to keep me working! Lol. Congrats on the arrivals! Sometimes, depending on how they are shipped...the shipping company does not know there are live animals in the box because it is technically not allowed. The box should be marked "handle with care" though.

they were shipped UPS. Our local ups has a bad reputation of using boxes as soccer balls, and speed bumps. This box arrived in good condition. The fact that she had not noticed the handle with care labels or the the this way up arrows is not all that surprising. At least it wasn't fedex. our local fedex is 10 times worse. My mortgage papers were found three weeks late in a neighbors bushes 4 houses away when they were sent fedex overnight with signature required... I find fedex deliveries tossed behind my garage a few times a year- usually for houses 2+ streets away (my garage backs onto a street and has a fence with a space between.) So I can't help but feel that a little bit of the box being turned on its side is really quite careful handling considering. We have a regular UPS woman however and she really does try to be as careful as she can while being in a huge rush.

they are now eating a second time.
