    Re: Hognose :-) :-) :-)

Here is one off my cell phone...

This was right after they came, I was holding them to warm them and then they investigated my desk a bit while Kerry went and cranked up the heat in the office. We are sweating but the snakies are doing well!!!!! They have both buried themselves in their temporary tank now... will get more pics if they come out!!

One of my bosses just came in-- the one who said, No snakes in the office-- LOL!!!! Silly man, did he really think we listen to what he says??

what temp do they need to be kept at. i am guessing about 5inches of sand is ok for substrate. how often do they need to be fed?

Lori i am really excited for you and can't wait to see pics of them and your enclosure once they have settled in. xxxxx
Lulu, I kept reading not to put them on sand, tho I honestly don't know the exact reasoning. I am using the Carefresh for now, about 6 inches deep, but am not sure if that will the final answer. I'm still trying to find more info on the best substrate for them.

Their temps should be a bit warmer than garters-- basking spot of 90, low to mid 80's for the rest of the tank. Uh oh, I don't know how to convert that to celcius...

The tank should have several hides as well as deep enough bedding to dig into, and also things for them to climb on. The male was already going all thru the fake plant I have in the temporary tank earlier!! He climbed in it all the way to the top. I was too enthralled to remember to snap a pic.

But remember, I'm still learning all this too. So if anyone needs to correct this, please do!!!!!

I haven't wanted to disturb them since we got home... they investigated their tank a bit and then disapeared. :-) I'll get some pics when I feed them. :-)

Don't want to disturb them; you'll wait till you feed them......likely story.........
You're just going to make us wait...........keeping everyone in suspense. How cruel.

I have been very remiss in sending pics of the hognose!! Mea culpa!! I looooooooove these two... so cute, and oh my, the female has a huge attitude!!! She will flatten her head and hiss at you when you reach in the tank, it's just adorable. The male is totally laid back tho.
