Thanks. Yeah, he/she/it was well aware of my presence, but wasn't that bothered.

You really are lucky to have so many snakes in the wild in your country. All I could find if I were to look would be Adders. Not that I dislike Adders, far from it, but it means I can't touch or keep what I find.

At Marnie's request - I don't have any pics at hand right now but I'll do a shameless plug of my dad's website for the joys of seeing Scottyland .... I'll try and post some new ones of my own soon.

http://www.scotlandframed.co.uk/imag...an-B.W.Sml.jpg This is one of my favourite places Eilean Donan Castle, Loch Alsh & Loch Duich immortalised in the film Highlander. have spent many weeks when I was a teenager in the highlands and can recomend a visit.

    :P ... quite an insulting movie ... if you're a Mackenzie .... like me

... just kidding , but a Macleod in that castle is quite a hilarious concept. Good movie though

I wouldn't be so bad if the Eilean Donan was indeed on the banks of Loch shiel........lol. Claim to fame, I've walked across that bridge and around the Castle itself. I love the Highlands spent 3wks at Evelix just outside Dornoch up on the east coast. Fishing for freshwater pearls ( illegal now I think ) Went all over the highlands from there most of the touristy bit and some out of the way spots as well.

    Re: The Nature Photography Thread

Went on a short hike with my dogs this afternoon. Found an awesome spot for water snakes. I saw five within thirty minutes! I know where I'll be going on my next free day! Only took a couple photos. Had the dogs with me, so it was a little difficult trying to get close, but managed a couple of times.

    Chowing down on a trout!

Big girl I found right on the edge of the water.

When I go back, I'll try to get more photos. I saw a bunch of tadpoles, a couple of frogs, a salamander and a little broadhead skink.

Yes they are! The northerns are the only ones that occur in my area. They can get pretty big for a water snake.
