    Re: The Nature Photography Thread

That is so funny! Love it! When I was living in England, I had an angry duck chase me for about a quarter of a mile down a dirt road in a park...I wish I had gotten it on video..and I guess I am showing my age here...but they didn't have video cameras back then so I guess it will just have to be preserved in my old timer memory!

Oh no...that's pretty epic...I was just mentioning my angry duck chase because it was funny...probably not epic though..I have never seen a duck scratch, this is true.

Cool videos you've uploaded lately, but what's the big deal? I see ducks do that all the time.

Some shots of the desert taken near my place:

Looking south west, Los Angeles / Hollywood is right on the other side of these mountains. Snow can be seen at around the 6500-7000 ft elevation.

Costa's Hummingbird (Calypte costae) is a year 'round resident of the high desert: (taken at 3900 ft elevation)

I love hummingbirds so much. I wish we had more of them around here. I would love to have one as a pet. Do people have them as pets?

Probably, but not in a way that's healthy for the bird. They need to constantly move. They rarely perch and rest... I've seen one, I guess, sleeping? for about 5 minutes... He always comes around our house in the spring, along with a cute little female.

Yeah...I see what you're saying. They are so unbelievably cute. The first, and only, time I saw one...I thought it was a bumblebee at first...it was just sitting there buzzing like a bee (well, flapping it's wings a mile a minute) and starring at me...and then I realized what it was. It was amazing!
