Some of you will know that over the past couple of weeks I've been searching for 'The Mythical Beast' Vipera berus (Adder). Well, today I got one!
I went to a known Adder site in North Wales, in the company of the North Wales reptile and amphibian 'recorder'. The weather was all wrong, very high winds, a bit too cool, occassional drizzle. But despite all this we found 0.1 Vipera berus (gravid and full of food), 0.5 Zootica vivipara and 0.0.4 Bufo bufo... Result!
The Adder photo is utter rubbish as I only had a brief moment to fire off one shot before she moved away into the undergrowth (I didn't want to stress her in her 'condition')... but I'm posting it anyway!

They've slit open 10 eggs so far (the first one yesterday) and 6 more eggs are sweating right now
Strange thing is... The other egg container is showing no signs of hatching at all :O They must have been a bit colder then...
