    Re: what are you reading?

When my attention span comes back, I'm going to finish Lolita and start on one of the books my mom gave/bought me. She really wants me to read Alice in wonderland. So, I might just do that.

That's a controversial one even to this day. I hate reading non-fiction, but I did see the movie. Both versions. 1962 and 1997. Lolita (1962) - IMDb

I'm currently reading The Lord of the rings the fellowship of the ring.I bought Life on earth by David Attenborough and Amazon The flooded forest by Micheal Goulding and will get around to reading them.I also want to read The hobbit before the film comes out so I know what the story's meant to be like.I read it when i was about 8 and it was in one ear and out the other(I was a thick child). Also I've sent a letter to Santa telling him I want The Garter snakes evolution and ecology

I've seen the 1997 one. It kind of sucks, because I used to want to name a daughter, if I had kids, Lolita. Even before I knew the book.

I keep trying to read Wuthering Heights...but I can never get past the rambling Old English. I'm also reading several other books at the same time. I also tried to read Hunger Games but found it kind of depressing and boring.

Wuthering Heights (and any Bronte books are hard going, I've never managed to get through one) but not as depressing as Thomas Hardy.
The first two Hunger Games are worth a read, if you get to the games and still find it boring give up. The third book looses something, but the story had to be concluded and hats off to her for sticking to a trilogy rather than doing a Rowling and churning out more books of ever increasing length and decreasing originality.

A book of similar ilk to Hunger Games that I read recently was called "The Maze Runner", I think it's a cleverer story. Char got an uncorrected proof, so I don't know if it was published in the US.

Chris I've heard two different rumors of late. The first has something to do with some unfinished writings Tolkien had which Peter Jackson will use as a source to make a third film that will bridge the gap between the two series. The second is the movie studios being such pimps to get every last bit of money they can from our wallets the Hobbit will be two films and the unfinished material will be a new trilogy to bridge the gap between the two series.

So in short... Hobbit is two films, unfinished writing/notes is third film..... trilogy. OR, Hobbit is two films, unfinished work is separate new trilogy to bridge gap. Whatever the unfinished material ends up being it will surely be used with great liberties taken by whatever writers fill in the blanks. Jackson got all this going by remarks he made at Comic-Con. Something to the effect of there still being a lot of story left to tell, and it won't fit in just two more films. I'm such a fan of the first three films that as long as Jackson stays on board from start to finish for one cohesive feel throughout I'm all for as much Middle Earth as Jackson can toss at us.

Just read Jackson came out and said this Hobbit series will be three films with the addition of the extra material. Three films December releases this year, 2013, and 2014

I'd heard it was going to be three films, I'd not heard about the additional material. I've nearly got to the end of my re-read of The Hobbit now, and I can see it could be spun to two films, certainly not three. I don't hold much hope with the additional material - Tolkien left a lot of scribbled notes, some of which have been tidied by his son, but if you've read The Silmarilion you realise that there isn't a coherent story to bridge the gap. Jackson's LotR writing team was great, but they were working from a good story.
