Steve if you only knew the half of it. Before Zena came into our lives he would not get NEAR a snake. I would catch rough green, black rat, brown dekayi & worm snakes all the time and he would back away. Now when I take them out and bring them to the couch he talks to them and puts his big warm man hand out for them to curl up in. Never thought I'ld see the day.

Got a little excited this morning when I went to say good morning to the girls and only found Sadie & Mona hanging out. TJ said he saw Zena when he got up, but she was no where to be found. Until TJ noticed a “lump” under the sani-chips. She hasn't done this in a long time. I think she has a smirk on her face for having the satisfactionof freakin' me out OR she's givin' me the stink eye....hard to tell.

Yes & no. Yes it's cute, but no because I thought I had lost Zena........just don't want to think about that. But at least now I know what to look for.

Re: Gail's garter - the snake kind silly.

Signs of brumation. Zena has refused to eat on the last two feedings, this she has never done before. She stays on the cool side of the tank (70F), and seems to be sleeping more than usual. When I take her out and bring her to the couch she acts like her normal self, checking out me and TJ, and enjoying her neck and chin rubs, but when in the cage it's back to the cool side and under the cork bark. Since this is her first winter in captivity is her internal clock telling her to brumate? Her physical appearance looks good, clear eyes, clear vent, flickering tongue, no hard or soft bulges through the body. I've seen her drink, and she has pooped since her last meal so just looking for some input on her behavior.
