Re: is Raising feeder mice for you?

Kyle - the longer you do this, the more you will notice the strong family values, Let me rephrase, COMMUNITY values, I have seen totally unrelated mice care for each others litters.

I didn't go into details, but the mouse that had bad malnutrition, I found it brained in the tote.

The adults sensed something was wrong, and they "euthanized" the sprout to end it's pain.

this is how i learnd to sex my mice, its REALLY simple and if they are old enough you can just see a males "junk" hanging out the back but they do have the ability to suck it back in unless they are calm.

I love the grey one!! Kev, give them a little box to hide in and they'll feel much more secure. :-)

Kev - I like to use dog food bowls, they have lots of room to hide under them.

But make sure they're lightweight plastic bowls-- I used a ceramic one once because I don't always think ahead. A mouse got trapped under it and almost died before I moved the bowl one day to discover a very skinny mouse. :-( I guess when they moved the bedding around, the ceramic one was heavy enough to settle down and he couldn't move it to get out.

Great point, I use the little blue ones from the dollar store, they have an opening on either side, make great snake bowls too.

Here's one of my best mommas... about to burst again! She was upset that I took this pic first thing in the morning before she had a chance to comb her hair or put on her makeup. I told her we liked the natural look and to relax. Altho, she certainly could clean her windows now and then...
