I'll make sure she's a good eater. She's in quarantine right now. I haven't seen any mites, and she looks to be in good health. I'll keep a close eye on her though.

    Re: A Very Cool Surprise

Last night, before bed, I checked on Kendra. In the tank I saw a huge slimy lump of stuff. I thought oh great she's giving birth! I opened the tank and with a glove I pulled out the clump of slimy stuff and aspen substrate. It was the biggest pile of poo I've ever seen. I have no idea what she has been eating but it was a dark brown chunk and a whitish almost translucent glob, and lots of pee. Any thoughts on what she could have been eating?

Unfortunately, no. It was late and my camera was buried. I didn't want the mess left in there overnight either. Bill thinks it was a large slug she ate. I have never seen whole slug poo, so I'm not sure.

Hard to tell without a photo.
If a large slug was ingested then the evidence would lead me to believe your husband has the right idea.

There are tons of slugs where she was found, but there are also lots of mice and frogs.

So we decided that Kendra was not happy in captivity. We released her yesterday exactly where she was found. She slithered happily away.

Sometimes it is for the best.
I've only had a few snakes that had to be released.

She was an old girl. I guess change was too much for her. She'll be much happier back in the wood shed she came from.
