That's exactly what i was talking about! Thanks Matt!

Any idea if that would work with wood, instead of cardboard?

it would most likely work with wood, but wood does warp with humidity

That's a neat idea. I'll have to look into making one of those once I get a tank large enough for both of mine to live together.

    Re: In-cage platform/shelf?

Ok, because of my cage, I can't do Matts suggestion...

Also don't really want cardboard, because its not easy to clean, and doesn't support much weight...

    Anybody?

not even with flat metal pieces?

one of the shelves easily support 2 heavy 4 foot corn snakes

do you have a picture of the rim of your enclosure so I can maybe come up with an idea or 2 for you?

    Re: In-cage platform/shelf?

Oh.. didnt know it was that strong. Cardboard is ok now.

I'll take a picture and show you when I'm at a computer (on my iphone now), but the problem is it's a sliding lid... and awkward rim, that the lid come up against...

Idk it might work, but when I was looking at it...

Do you have access to balsam wood? If you really don't like the looks of cardboard, it's light, incredibly strong, and I'd think less likely than other woods to warp.
