One last question if you don't mind. Do contractions stop? I switched cages for a second to clean out any remaining gunk that was in it, and put her back in it. However now it doesn't appear that she isn't contracting anymore...

I don't think it's out of the question that she may have some control over the contractions. For short periods of time, escaping predators, moving to a safer location.
I try to handle my delivering females as little as possible. The less stress the better.
I had one big female radix that kept climbing into my arms while she was delivering. I'd put her back and she'd come right back over to me and up on my arms. I thought it was pretty cool. Caught a couple babies in my hand as they were delivered.

That one is on my list but I never seem to have the gas money for the trip. I drive a 1 ton, 15 passanger van for my big family. Makes road trips expensive.

I think it would be cool if some of the members in the area formed a garter alliance or something. Pooled together and got a table to spread awareness about garters and exhibit some of our unique animals.
