I laugh my face off with questions like this. But if you think about it, a lot of them make sense. I mean, you can't expect everyone to know all about snakes.

Some really dumb ones like "are they slimy?" have no excuses, but others like, "do the tails grow back" are not that bad... still, they're great. love it.

have enjoyed this thread it has given me quite a laugh, but i do agree that people asking should be seen as a positive thing, even the questions that raise a giggle

I got asked if garter snakes puke blood on you as a defensive mechanism. I have no idea who has ever thought of that, unless they picked up a dying garter snake that was bleeding internally or something and thought that it was trying to get away from them.

Hognose snakes come to mind. A few others here and there

Hognose are MASTERS of the death display. They don't let up. you can't "wake" them

Some snakes will vomit any recent meals if they feel significantly threatened. It could be that this originated from someone who caught a snake that had recently eaten something, and that snake regurgitated a recent meal, leading the person to think it was spitting blood.

EDIT: I wrote this before watching that hognosed video. In it, the snake regurgitates what looks like a frog in its "death throes".
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.
