    Re: Liophis Poecilogyrus are here!!!

Wait... I thought we welcomed other types of snakes that were very similar to garter snakes in their looks and actions in the lounge... And let me tell you keeping these is exactly like keeping garters! The husbandry is practically identical. And I remember that topic coming up and people deciding that snakes with similar habits/husbandry were OK.

I was always under the impression it was just Storyia dekayi(Brown snake) that was basically OK to post about.
I didn't think it went any farther than that though.
If I'm wrong I stand corrected.

I've never figured this out. I thought water snakes were OK... whatever, I'll leave it to the moderators.

Well both storeria and nerodia would definitely be OK. I just could have sworn it applied to other similar snakes too... Like natrix and liophis... I wasn't trying to argue, I was just genuinely asking a question seeing as I definitely remember this having come up before.... It was a long time ago though so my memory coukd just be skewed. I keep liophis P.... They are cool snakes, they are just like garter snakes too.... Their habits and mannerisms, right down to the way they eat and love to swim. Same with the natrix. I alway thought it was incredible how snakes that are very different from one another from separate continents could evolve to be so alike! It makes sense though.

I think it should be fine. There's no "Liophis Poecilogyrus Forum".

"Welcomed" may be the wrong word, but unlike ball python and corn snake threads, these don't get thrown in the "other pets" thread.

to keep down the confusion to thamnophis newcomers and visitors, should we have a separate thread for these kinds of "like garter" species?
I like having these threads that compact the non-thamnophis areas of interest to a manageable cluster

and I am the opposite, I hate those threads that drag on for 037590302 pages and cover multiple snakes/categories/topics... it's just me though... I obsessively divide things into as many unique categories as I can. Then again I also have a bad habit of organizing things by color in spectral order. I can't handle things being all lumped together. I'm a bit strange!
