Howdy Wayne good to see you here again, yah the pic isn't the best, that snake isn't really that dull looking, but I'm not a proffessional photographer and my camera is a P.O.S.
    Devon,
I looooove the black and blue snakes too, of course I don't consider if they match my jacket, but that sounds exactly like something my wife would say.

Well not making any promise thats how it will look, but just theorizing and hoping, but thats what it takes to motivate one to raise up a bunch of normal babies to breed and all the work required over several years., besides it's pretty cool the fact that snake is an eastern iowa local just like me

    Re: Granite checkered gravid female

What I find really interesting about these snakes that I forgot to mention, is that if you look really close the scales are much more round shaped, and they are also very smooth,...... and by comparison some of the easterns (sirtalis sirtalis) especially the ones found towards the east coast are much more pointed and elongated and they are also more keeled.

    Re: new acquisition

Your right she does, but I think part of what gives her look is she is very small for a 2 year old snake, obviously she hasn't been given the optimal growing conditions and I was told that he had trouble getting her on mice untill just recently..... I'm hoping that with a little TLC will be able to beef her up by next spring and sometimes after you get a female bred she will automatically, instictively, hormonally driven, dramatically increase in size too, so we shall see if she blossoms into a nice fat prego next spring, fingers crossed, because I really do think she has a lot of potential
