    Re: my new Th.s.similis

    Hey all,

Heard about this post and thought I may be able to shed some light. I took pics of the female and 2 males I've bred to her the past 4 years (forgive the quality, my photography skills have much to be desired as you can see lol). These were all acquired directly from Mark Malfatti, who worked w/ the best lineage of similis (IMO). Unfortunately I don't have any pure Florida easterns, if I did I could do a side by side shot and the difference is easily discernable. The similis are more sold colored (w/ no checkering) and the blue color does vary quite a bit, even within the same broods. Florida easterns typically have varied checkered patterns and their colors vary as well. Some are lime green, green, and some are moderate to high blue (sometimes bluer than similis). I had a neon blue Florida eastern about 10 years ago that was absolultey gorgeous.

    Many thanks for the answers!

That is the Page of breeder, there i have the snake: Thamnophis Austria - Strumpfbandnattern in Österreich

The father, you can see at "Tierbestand" --> "Thamnophis Männchen" --> the second snake.

The mother, you can see at "Tierbestand" --> "Thamnophis Weibchen" --> the secons snake.

For all snakes is available a data card, you can see at "verfügbar".

    Hope, it helps!

This confuses things I guess...The website says the male is `het amelinistic´...I never knew any amelanistic simillis where found....Amelanistic easterns okay...but simillis...??????

This could (...not sure...it COULD) mean that your animal isnt as pure as the breeder states. But then again, I'm not into morphs of gartersnakes

That is interesting, I thought ( In the very first picture at least) it looked just like my male similis. The subsequent pics are hard to tell but do look more like sirtalis to me.

    Here is my male similis.

    Re: my new Th.s.similis

    Hey all,

Both of those snakes pictured were produced from the female I posted a pic of. One can see how as adults they vary quite a bit, Shannon's seems to be much bluer.

    Re: my new Th.s.similis

@ Scott: Do you mean, that she could to be a similis?

She is circa 30 cm long. I read, the blue color come with size and age?!

Here is another photo without flashlight, maybe it help?

I think, she doesn´t look like a real "Florida blue". But she could be a hybrid between "Florida blue" and similis at former generation?!
    What do you think?
