Got a couple of them to eat tonight.
    Worm parts.
They seem very active. All seem to be in good health. No signs of birth trama or obvious problems.

    Re: Spot's Close

Here at the T.radix Ranch newborn radixes are a very exciting time but with the excitement comes the reality that some might not make it. That seems to be the trend here recently. I usually lose 1 out of every group born. Usually that "Failure to Thrive" thing. Today was a great day here. My group of 18 babies born to Spot are all eaters now and I do mean EATERS! Usually when I feed them it's a slow process. Not a lot of interest. Something different happened today. They downed the first bowl of worms in record time, looking at me like "Where's the rest!" I went back out to the mulch pile, during a heavy rain and caught about 30 more earthworms. I put the bowl in and they were like piranha. I'm glad I got my dirt covered hand out of there. I've heard rumors that hungry baby radixes can strip the flesh off a hand in under 60 seconds.
My last two groups totaling 34 are all eating very well. It's going to be a good spring around here. I think I'm going to need a few more enclosures.

    Re: Spot's Close

Took Spot in to see the Vet. tonight. While there, she defecated on a white hand towel. I noticed a small amount of blood in the feces and asked for a screen to be run. It came back positive(forgot to write down what parasite). I got to see the parasite eggs from under the microscope. She was put on Panacur Oral .1 ml once a day, for 3 days.
I also had an x-ray taken of the general area of her paralysis. I will post a photo of the x-ray later. Spot has a broken rib! How that's possible I'll never know. Poor girl. That must be painful. He wants to see her again in a week for a follow-up(No charge). This was not one of the cheaper Vet. outings for me. A turtle with an eye infection and Spot's problems took an easy(Ha) $170. I'm thankful I have a Vet. who is knowledgeable and caring.
