    Not infectious stomatitis - mouth rot. Could be a retained upper labial scale. They tend to pull the lip up. Your photos are better but I can't get an accurate count.

    According to "The Garter Snake - Evolution and Ecology page 250, T. s. sackenii has 8 supralabials (upper-labials).

    I count 9 supralabials on your snake.

    Yes, the sackeni has 8 supralabials where as the sauritas has 7.

    I count 9 right to the tip of the nose but I thought you didn't count last 1 at its the InR internasorostal contact p.s I just purchased a copy of the garter snakes evolution and ecology from amazon still getting the hang of it tho lol thanks for the replies guys
