This is my new kitten Diogenes. She has a pretty cool story behind her, but if you don't want to read it, then just ogle the amazing cuteness! (This is the night I brought her home).

She was part of a feral cat colony living in the parking lot beside my apartment and we bonded She was like 5 months old when I finally took her home, so she didn't grow up around people at all. I've owned feral cats and kittens that grew up as part of an abandoned litter, but she's the first one that grew up in an actual colony of several families and unrelated cats. It's crazy how this affects the way she fits in with our other cats! Normally, there is about a month of hissing and territory fighting when we bring in a new one, but after about three hours, she was piled up with them and they were grooming each other!
She's also calm and well-adjusted in the way that I've only ever seen in my other cats that grew up wild. In the month it took me to gain her trust enough to catch her, I got to see how this cat colony actually functioned, and it was seriously one of the neatest experiences I've ever had. I had no clue how complicated feline society could be, and I've owned cats all my life! (It's amazing that I've been able to be this articulate, as normally all I can say when I'm trying to talk about her is "Awwwwww, it's the BABY!" or something equally sicky-sweet).

Congrats on your new kitty. We have a rescue group around here dedicated to saving cats left abandoned in apartment parking lots called "dumpster cats"...because I live on a college campus and so many college kids move and abandon their cats in apartment parking lots...it's unreal. My cat, Beanie, came to live with me many years ago after she was abandoned in the apartment that I moved into...she was left outside and every time I would open my door she would run into my apartment! She could have ended up a dumpster cat but I took her in. She does not actually get along with my other cats very well...in fact, she has trust issues in general...she only really trusts me. She and I have an incredible bond...she knows that I rescued her.IM000413.jpg The Beanie...

This is my latest cat "adoption".. Her owner was arrested and thrown in Jail, He was renting from me and his critters got left behind.
