Thanks for the photo Steve! Panzer's cloaca is pretty much even with the shell. So, at this point, I'm about 110% sure she is female.. give or take a percentage. A few days ago, I saw a photo of a snapper for sale that appeared to be a bit smaller than my Panzer (a hand was in the pic for size reference). The person had posted a shot of the bottom of the turtle, including the tail and it was obviously a male. The cloaca was much lower than Panzer's. Great post

Whenever I get into Speckle's enclosure our dog Lucy comes and watches over the proceedings.
Speckle doesn't like Lucy and usually tries to bite her nose.

    Ranch Helpers

The other day I needed to do some work on the big female radix enclosure. I was replacing the hinge protector and replacing the static screen with a removable one.
Replacing the hing protector came first. This meant using a electric staple gun. While using it most of the girls came down to see what was going on.
The staple gun going off didn't phase them a bit. No startle response or jumpiness.
It's really amazing at how calm they can become.
Pulling the old screen off gave these girls a chance to inspect the job as it progressed.

ahaha you have a plaque made for them and everything, what, do you have showings?

I know what you mean by calmness, I think it's a good sign of trust.

Just how quickly can these radixes relax and adapt to Ranch life.
90 days ago I found a beautiful female radix outside. I decided to keep her so into quarantine she went.
During this time I fed and water her but didn't spend any hands on time with her.
On day 91 I removed her and put her in with some big females to get her acclimated to the system here at the Ranch.
Approximately 30 minutes later I returned to that enclosure with some food for the residents.
I was greeted by everyone including this new female. She approached me, took food and allowed me to touch her, even rub her neck. I was also able to pick her up without any issues. It's as if she has been raised here or even born here.
Radixes are amazing snakes. I love every aspect of keeping them.

Yesterday, I spotted our girl Lucky not looking too happy. She was rough looking so I figured she was due to shed.
A few minutes ago I spotted her and snapped this photo. The shed was off te top of her head and loose on the lower jaw.
I helped her complete the shed. She is the most calm of all the radixes I have.
