Need some opinions here. This critter gives me the distinct impression that it is a legless lizard, not a snake. Anyone else? Can anyone I.D. this lizard?

I figured it out. It's Florida, and it's an Eastern Glass Lizard (Ophisaurus ventralis)

Yeah, and don't drive down the street with a sonoran gopher snake around your neck either. Mine got into the gap where the window comes up through the door and we were headed for a high of 102 degrees F. that day.

Sink drains and overflow holes are a real hazard too.

Started to drill a hole in my car. (it was an ugly POS anyway. A '72 toyota corona) I could tell where the snake was but couldn't get to him by hand. Well, the vibrations from the drill is all it took. He came flying out of there!

I know. Mine made it to almost a million miles (987,000) before it blew a head gasket and I sold it for parts. Those were the days. Gas was 98 cents a gallon.
