Hisser people! If you find these little bugs on your hissers, RELAX! They are beneficial in that they're eating fungi that could possibly cause you allergy problems off of your hisser's exoskeleton!

    they're amazingly easy to breed
I'd just gotten a few for feeders and when I saw that they'd had babies during shipping, I decided to go for it

    aaaahh - I just had a realisation
when my turks get out of hand, all I have to do is take away the substrate and they'll stop reproducing, right Kyle?
I've not had much luck getting them sold at expos, even if they're priced close to crickets
what's wrong with those people? don't they know superior feeders when they see them?

They don't know any better I guess....

Chomp prefers them, I have never seen him go after crickets with anywhere near the same enthusiasm as the roaches.

I decided to hunt for the roaches this morning as I haven't seen them in a while. WOW the hissers got big!!!!!! I mean, quadrupled in size since I last saw them!!!! The peppereds are growing steadily too. :-)

They seem to be doing well, Kyle.

Re: Zephyr's Amazingly Awesome Roach Thread

Nifty find that I'm getting checked out with the roach community:

Dark brown versions of a normally tan species; The species is also parthenogenic, so if these are due to different genetics as opposed to nutritional influence, there may be some questions yet to be answered about the self-cloning process.
Also, I discovered an individual with a "jig-saw" deformity, or uneven pairing in the abdominal plates. She's being kept alone to duplicate, and I'll be checking the babies for the mutation.
