they've been around since the late sixties, when apparently some escaped from a pet shipment
the quaker parrots build nests and do fine here over the winter
some areas of Brooklyn have large flocks of them, and I am on the border of one of those areas
there are also a couple of other parrot species loose in Brooklyn, but the quakers are very successfulrhea
