I don't think I can get the necessary permits for New Jersey. I'm fairly sure you have to prove some sort of academic affiliation (my collegiate work was in English and History).

Not to step on toes, but I'm not sure a visit from an experienced keeper would do all that much. I mean all they can really do is look at your caging. What could that really do?

I'm into the idea of a certification program, where people are mentored. They have to prove a certain amount of time worked with other people's snakes. I think that is how it works in Florida.

Not a bad idea. Here it takes a neighbour to say no and you can't get the permit .

You have to 'announce' that you want to have the permit and anybody can go to the town hall and say they object to it. Starting from there, you have practically no chance to get the permit anymore unless like I said you know the right people. Of course it's also a load of money here James, you have to get the money somewhere

The U.S. is a little more leniant in those instances. In the next state over (Pennsylvania), you just need to be 18. In Jersey, it's near impossible.

However, I do know that insurance companies will drop you if you get bit by your captive venomous snake. Also the insurance company will handle it as an attempted suicide.

WOW I've never heard of that, thats of course what I'm going to use next time I don't want to drink.............. now don't get me wrong sometime your just in the mood, but most often I'm not..........sad really isn't.......
