    Re: New and question

From the page I was looking at...Radix are on the endangered list in Ohio. Yes...up to four as long as they are easterns or Butler's garters. As far as bringing snakes in from out of state, we have the same law in Delaware...something about bringing out of state species in or something. I wouldn't worry about it if you want to say...purchase an eastern from a breeder out of state and bring it into Ohio...they just don't want a bunch of out of state species being introduced into the state in the natural habitat. Here is the link to what I was reading. It is the revised Ohio law concerning wildlife possession effective Jan 1, 2011: Reptiles & Amphibians Licensing and Regulations

Yeah....boas and pythons aren't allowed in Delaware but everyone has them. They sell them here...it's very odd.

    Re: New and question

Ribbons have a reputation for being biters, don't they? I've not kept them myself, but have read in several places about ribbons and water snakes being partial to chewing down on a bit of finger, or hand. Plenty of folks around here that have the odd ribbon if you want advice aft you give in and go back for it .
I think you should hold out for a garter though, unless you're planning on getting the garter as well.

Ribbons aren't really known for biting, just being really jumpy.

Garters would probably be a better choice as ribbons are notoriously jumpy therefore less attractive as pets.... however, on the biting note, the bites from garter and ribbons are nothing, as long as you don't pull away suddenly which can injure them and make the bites worse.
