I could do with sending 'Lily on a little transatlantic holiday to the ranch! She still freaks out when she needs to be picked up. Or touched. Or have you go near her.

    Re: Taming The Beasts.

I was feeding this group of girls last night. I had a few fuzzies left over and thought these ladies would enjoy them. They did enjoy them but A fight did breakout.
I had given LG(Lucky's Girl) a fuzzy and she had eaten it. She then went looking for another. One of her roommates had just finished her fuzzy. I was watching LG to see how she was going to behave. She launched herself at the other snake and grabbed her by the head. I had to separate the two and put LG in a timeout container.
She's a very demanding young lady.

Things are going very well in this enclosure.
LG and Shade are doing extremely well. LG still has some feeding issues but for the most part it's a calm group.
    I've even seen a change in a girl I call "Enforcer" http://www.thamnophis.com/forum/gene...-attacked.html

    Re: Taming The Beasts.

Well Steve, you saw my angry radix video. Except for the teasing on my part in the video, this behavior is a daily occurrence with that little spitfire. Once he smells the food and takes a bite, he deflates and calmly eats, then awaits the next bite with better manners. Next day, I get the same greeting. One ticked off radix striking at me repeatedly.

Amy has done that on occasion, a strike or two, but that's because he's blind and I startled him. Once he feels my hand, and knows it's me, he's OK. In fact he's very sweet.

Not that one little one I have. He knows it's me and wants me to back the heck up and leave him alone. Well, I would leave him alone but I have to feed him.

Just goes to show you, captive born and raised, or wild caught. Doesn't make any difference in how tame or wild they can be. Each one has a unique disposition. This one wants nothing to do with me and isn't afraid to let me know that.

So, Steve has a little Boot Camp for snakes going...lol. I believe that some of us need to send our snakes to "Steve's Boot Camp for Snakes" and have their attitudes adjusted...Selena needs a little time on the ranch. Like Chantel's snake...Selena is the sweetest girl until you pick her up...then she acts like you are going to kill her. Well, she is still pretty skiddish in her tank too...but she's getting better. Of course, she has never attempted to strike and she has never musked...she is just a scaredy-snake! Still, I bet time on the ranch would help!

Kind of like Snap. If you even touch her she acts like your murdering her. But, unlike Selena, she poops and musks until nothing can come out anymore. She'll act calm and this is usually when I get her a "diaper" because every single time she gets calm, she unleashes a huge load of poo.

I've thought about making one of those motivational DVD's for garter snakes.
    3 am infomercials.
    Products like Sham radix. Wow.
