    welcome to the forum
after a few years of keeping garters, I have to say that my coolest garter is the one that seems to enjoy hanging out with me for a long time, and I think she's beautiful, but I know you have to look a bit more closely; when you just walk by the enclosure, she looks just like a big, almost black eastern with a dull, yellowish dorsal stripe - never gets much visitor response
my vet thinks she's stunning - I guess you have to be into garters to see it
anyway - I'm sure you'll find one that's just right for you

Keep in mind that colors change over time, especially if you're talking about a wild-caught snake. The garter snake I had that was originally the dullest brown is now the most colorfully patterned.
Which is more tempting: The fruit of knowledge or the possessed, talking serpent? DUH! - The Serpent!

Welcome Snakers Baby season is starting to wind down, but hang around a bit. You can usually find reasonably priced stunning animals by getting to know people on the forum. Get to know who's breeding what and what babies they have available or hope to have available next year. Scott Felzer is the garter god and the first place to look when you're ready, but there are others, too. Good luck in your search

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Welcome to the forum! First of all, no question is ever stupid. Second of all, I must reiterate what many have said before me, the most common snake can be the most fascinating. I have 2 Easterns, w/c, no special colorings but personalities? Wow! One just became a Mom 10 days ago and we are not sure about the other. We also have a Florida Blue (not yet blue), a ribbon, and a dekayi. All are beautiful snakes and are a joy in their own way. Our Eastern's babies are the cutest things ever and I can't stop looking at them. All I can say is find a snake and enjoy it. Specials are nice but regulars or normals have much to offer. Good luck!
