    Thanks, I was wondering if there was a snake wart virus, apparently not. Do snakes get other viruses?

    I don't know if snakes can get warts but if they could I don't think it would be covered with scales. Warts push the normal skin out of the way and form a crown. This thing looks like the end of a tail. Very strange.
    It's almost as if it's a birth defect, an extra tail. I would love to see an x-ray to see if there were tail bones in it. See if you can get a Vet. to give you a free x-ray. If it's a Herp. Vet. they might do it just to findout. Keep us posted.

    That's definitely a scar!!! My normal male banded water snake had this same thing right along side his massive scar that literally looked like something had taken a BIG chunk out of him a long time ago. It's like a flap of skin that has long since healed over, but never reattached to the body.

    There is something like that in my book Die strumpfbandnatter from martin hallemen ,but is wright in german ...there is something very similar.
