    That's kinda cool actually, first time I've ever seen that. It appears to be a lack of melanin in a few spots, and not related to any trauma, but that is only a guess. Either way it's a pretty cool snake...I wonder if the spots would be hereditary....

    Intresting responses. I have seen piebald pythons before and the white seems much more domenent. In saying that, I was not sure this was the case with her. For that matter still am not. Maybe I should go hunt her down again and try to keep her.

    In the pictures of piebald pythons I've seen, the amount of white has varied from simple blotches like these, to dominant.

    So... Is this garter special / rare ? Is it a keeper? Is it worth seeing if this trait is hereditary? It would be a fun breeding project I guess kinda a surprise.

    I cant legally sell anything native to Maine. For that matter I am in the process of geting a permit just to be able to legally keep native species captive.

    How about giving it away? Maybe you have a pebble or a twig somewhere you'd like to sell for the approximate price of a garter.
