Those are great pictures, Shannon. I just LOVE Sledge -- he's such a cutie!!
How are hognoses to take care of? Are they similar to garters? I might like to look into one!!

our hognose is a lovely mellow snake - the only one that will contendedly curl up on my had for long stretches of reading books
    he's not dull though
when I talk to him he looks at me and when he gets bored with being curled up, he generally heads toward my face - he likes glasses and the neck area

    Cool!
Now the big question-- how are they for price??
I mean, I know it's different everywhere, but roughly. Under $100, or between 100 and 200?
I need to be armed with the money knowledge so I can work on my husband. He works in the manufacturing industry so he's always paranoid about extra spending, lest he doesn't have a job next week!!

    That's not so bad,
but since I just wrote a cheque for more than twice that for the stupid furnace, I should probably wait just a leeeeetle bit before mentioning any new snakes to the husband!!

That sounds rather comical! I'm trying to picture Sledge snubbing his meal -- too cute!!

Casey Jones, our hognose, will sometimes hiss at f/t mice and strike at them, but not eat them
generally when I leave them in his tank, he'll eat them once he's calmed down
I've got a number of snakes that are wary and cautious around rodents - particularly when they're approaching shed

If I ever venture beyond garters and my plans regarding Natrix natrix and Coronella austriaca don't work out, then hognoses will be right at the top of my list.
