I'm fighting the urge to spend a morning this weekend driving up to an area known for adders and grass snakes. So far this year I've just seen a slow worm, and it's been years since I've seen a native British snake (mainly because I don't spend so much time outdoors now).

    Such pretty little things!

Chris- I know how you feel. Im fortunate in that I've got parks with garters in my neighborhood, but its a road trip to get out where other species might be seen.

I just keep training my eye in the hope that the pattern recognition skills im developing will kick in so I can spot massasauguas (?)sp?) Out at stony creek.

I may have to do the same soon... In my whole life I have seen a grand total of two baby grass snakes, zero adders and zero slow worms...!
