definitely eastern... only have easterns and butlers there also, from what I can see of the tail in the one pic it's a female. where in Macomb County are you?? I was stationed there at Selfridge Air National Guard Base from 85-87. Loved it out there!!!

Found on the railway that goes to S.A.N.G. between. Gratiot and I-94 between the park and the trailer park.
I thought female when I found it, but once the constipation passed I began to favor male.
it acts more like a male- jumpy and always on the move.

The pictures I found of her snakes were more golden less green and red looking on my monitor. I don't. Know if she has them anymore.

I agree that I have never seen an eastern that looks like that...but it does sound like some descriptions of easterns in other areas...plus the markings seem to fit. A beautiful find! I do know that some of the easterns around here often look a greenish color...and I do know that easterns can have some red in between the scales.

Sweet!!! I used to get tons of butlers on base. just cuz its jumpy doesnt mean its male..from the view of the tail in the one pic I'd say female...

I do remember a very tan eastern found on base... an officers daughter found it... a cat got a hold of it, did some damage, I tried to save her, but was too late..... I actually have an x-ray of her

Ohhh, good to know. She is probably an Eastern then- I just haven't encountered this lighter shaded population before.
If you have a nostalgic longing for Butlers from this area let me know- I have at least one female I'm pretty sure is gravid, so I'll likely have half a dozen or more squiggles to find homes for or release in a local reserve.
