Sounds like Delaware, Rod...it's 80 degrees here one day and 50 the next. One day I'm in shorts and the next I have my winter coat back on...it's crazy!

My Cousin lives in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island. She used to live just south of Calgary, Alberta. Keeps telling me to visit. The reply is always the same! " Lass! If I come over there, I won't be coming home!"

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.

Nanaimo is nice. I'd go back.

Regarding the San Fran that the op asked about - ironically, the federally protected San Francisco Garter is probably easier to find (for a price) than many other species of garter in the UK. It may just be that breeders of tetrataenia make themselves easier to find.

Mark, Team valley Reptiles- Gateshead had some in a couple of weeks back, just been on their web site and there are none listed now. They were around £65-£67 just as a rough guide. Thamnophis sirtalis infernalis - (California Red Sided Garter Snake) are just as colourful.
