    ive had many mixed reactions with some people
    but once again like at the pet store you say its a garter snake and they just stop listening

    Exactly. And it seems that that's exactly where most garters kept and sold come from. Wildcaught with minimal effort and when I've read here about stores selling them for a few dollars a piece, it's pretty damn obvious to me that they're not going to be appreciated.

    I've actually asked at the local pet shop why they don't carry non-native species of garter, and was greeted with a surprised, "Oh, there are different kinds??"

    Very hard to find here. The odd one in reptile specific classifieds but I only know of one person who regularly breeds various garters. Maybe people just don't talk about it.

    awwwwwwwwwwww look at them all eat!! Hungry little snakies. I should pick up a few of them containers also. I do really need one for when I clean out Bennies cage. Not a bad idea
