Re: Male garter snake "castration" by cranial invasive surgery?

A little detective work and youll find many Thamnophis keepers/breeders are full of valuable information about locals and lineages. In recent years that kind of information has become scarce because of many reasons, laws, giving up a good spot, politics etc. its almost gotten to the point were you gotta watch what ya say and be carefull who ya deal with, laws vary from state to state, county to county. I cant sell a Plains Garter to anyone in Ohio no matter how much proof i have that its not from that state, the laws have changed a lot of things.

Yeah, some laws make no sense. A person living in CA cannot be in possesion of a CA red-sided even if it's a CB morph and yet anyone NOT living in CA can. Let's make a law that leaves things wide open for people to take wild snakes and leave the state with them, shall we? If they are going to make it illegal to posses them, then make it nation wide like it is with SF garters.

The tools at the authorities' disposal are quite limited. If they can prevent collection by locals, then it might be worth it, even if they can't control what people from other states do.
