    She is a beauty, Just after that photo, her eyes constricted as she zeroed in on a worm. They are great hunters. Not much gets by them.
    Funny you should mention the two dots. I have one Radix with no dots. I'll get a picture and post it.

    He a good looking male and I'm not sure. My boy scar might need a rest someday. It would be nice to have a bullpen to choose from. My biggest fear in letting him go this spring is my zero turning radius mower. I had a big gravid female killed last year. Two weeks before I was holding her and now wondered if I did the right thing. I know it was the right thing but hindsight makes me feel the other way. The worst part was she didn't die immediately. I had to dispatch her, quickly. She was suffering. I still don't feel good about the whole thing. Bad, bad memories! That's one situation I hope to never go through again.

    i am an hour 1/2 out of radix range. well worth the drive to go herping for them though. occasional snake in basement, usually brown snakes (dekayi). most common animal encountered in basements around here, especially this time of year, are eastern tiger salamanders.
    The more people I meet, the more I like snakes
