Re: How about some pics of your other pets

Yeah I know what you mean.

I am a little apprehensive about gushing overs coppers, cottons and cantils, but they are my favorite (I have too many favorites, but these things really are). The prettiest snake in existence is the copperhead. So autumnal. Contorix is what i call my girlfriend sometimes. It's the red hair. My English family hates her. J/k

I love the Copperheads....my avatar is a Copperhead I drew years ago. I had a few Cottonmouths once. They're nice snakes, scary until they settle down though!

I find them very interesting, but will probably never keep hots... it's the same as keeping an illegal weapon in Belgium. Unless you have a permit, which you won't ever get...

I will probably never keep them again. At the time I was licenced (it is necessary in the UK also). It was an experience which I enjoyed for some years, but I won't repeat it.

I don't like the fact that you're unable to get the permit here, although it exists. Or you should have friends in the right places, like the mayor of the (very) small town that you live in.

If you are a capable and responsible keeper, it should be allowed in my eyes. A visit from an expert should be the only criterea...

It's actually the same if I want to hold more than 30 animals... another very stupid thing, so don't count my animals, certainly not when it's breeding season

I don't think I can get the necessary permits for New Jersey. I'm fairly sure you have to prove some sort of academic affiliation (my collegiate work was in English and History).

Not to step on toes, but I'm not sure a visit from an experienced keeper would do all that much. I mean all they can really do is look at your caging. What could that really do?

I'm into the idea of a certification program, where people are mentored. They have to prove a certain amount of time worked with other people's snakes. I think that is how it works in Florida.

What did it take to be licensed in the U.K.?

As for the maximum amount of specimens. That is lame. I think my state has some rules. They'll never find my stash

A bunch of money. An inspection by the local environmental health officer (who had never seen a snake up-close before), and a bunch of money. Oh, and a big public liability insurance policy! And a bunch of money.
