    Re: Lori's snakes and such

The rat snake is adorable...i really want one of those. Is it a leucistic black rat snake? Also...I can relate to the mite problem. I just found some on my new snake. Ticks me off. I guess its not a terribly serious problem but i am just kind of paranoid. Do you suppose they can get on my spiders?

    Re: Lori's snakes and such

Chrsita, I don't believe the snake mites will live on your spiders. They may visit, lol, but from what I understand, they should not be able to live long term or breed on anything other than their natural host.

Yes, they are leucistic Texas black rat snakes. And they are just full of piss and vinegar!!! The one that regurged did gobble down another pinky... watching her to make sure she doesn't regurge again.

And oh, my gosh, the Florida blue female ate two HOPPER mice last night!!!! I tossed them in the bowl just to see-- she's certainly big enough-- and she ate all the minnows, four fuzzies and the two hoppers before the male even came out to see what the fuss was about. I'm going to have to watch that girl-- is there such thing as a Florida blue anaconda??!!! LOL!!!!

Is projectile vomiting a normal garter/ribbon defense mechanism? I only ask because every time I pick up Bob to mite spray him, he does not musk-- he slings slime at me. This is a new one for me!

He only does it when I pick him up. Spews clear fluid out of his mouth. Really? Not a defense thing?
