"Humans are usually predators, but we can be prey too. The people in a village on the Niger River in Africa were losing fellow villagers at a rapid rate and called in the army, which shot a 7 m, 1200 Kg crocodile."

That is an awesome animal. Too bad it had to be killed.

I'd say that the crocodile in the picture was around 4 meters. It doesn't look like an old animal at all.

Sorry about that, I was referring to the article. I remember reading it in the past and just yesterday I saw it being shared on FB so I posted it here to share with you guys.

I thought he meant that the story was old, rather than the animal, and it is. As far as the details go, I wanted to check and see if it was just another hoax and found this:

"There is no reason to doubt the authenticity of the photograph itself, although details about where, when and why it was killed and its exact length and weight remain unconfirmed. The crocodile is almost certainly not as large as claimed in the message. Perspective and the relative position of the people posing behind the crocodile probably make it appear significantly larger than it really is"

I think I have to agree with Stefan's estimate of around 4 meters.

Yeah, I know. I meant that if it's 7 meters long, it should be quite old and could be expected to look old. Big old ones tend to be a lot bulkier.

Especially if they're fed a steady supply of villagers.
