The problem that geological time is irrelevant when the only one that something might matter to doesn't actually experience geological time.

Good point but geological time is not irrelevant to me because I do not have to actually experience it for it to matter. You think in terms of your lifetime and perhaps a few generations into the future as being the only period of time that matters. I see that short period of time as being insignificant. A mere fraction of a second in a day. I guess that's where we differ.

Like I said, the problem is yours. Not a problem as far as I'm concerned. I see the history and future of life on earth as being bigger and grander that all of us. I see our concern for the present and near future as being petty and insignificant.
