I can't stand children screaming either...and I am a mom. Something about a screaming child that grates on my nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard. I was not like that with my son though...the sound of him screaming as a baby only made me want to calm him. It might be a natural instinct thing...like we are programmed like that so we don't eat our young...lol. But I also think that parents should know where they should and should not take young children and when to take a child out of a place...you should not let a screaming child bother other people in public. Just my opinion.

Children screaming is one thing. Adults screaming is something that makes me want to grab a two-by-four and a roll of duct tape.

Has everyone heard of the tragedy in Canada? Apparently a python escaped from an exotic pet store and went into a home and killed two young children yesterday. It's been all over the news. It's just horrible and very, very strange. Here comes more snake bashing by the public because of one weird tragedy. But I just can't even imagine...those poor kids...their poor families.

It's supposed to. Both the baby's cry and your reaction to it, is a highly evolved interaction. It's supposed to be impossible to ignore, and it's supposed to irritate you.

It's a sign that you're a good mother. It's the mothers whom it doesn't bother that worry me.

So does that mean we should go up to kids in Walmart and kick them when they are screaming? Totally kidding...I'll just kick the parents...lol.

I can't really say. The point is, instinct urges you to do something besides ignore it.

Right...I mean, when I hear a newborn screaming...I always have the urge to comfort it...of course if you have heard a newborn cry, the cry is very different than, say, a toddler wailing. It is not as grating. It's a very sad cry and I feel the need to calm the baby. When a toddler screams, I feel the need to scream myself.

Once again today, I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that.
