Honestly, I think turtle faces are kinda cute, in their own way.

that painted turtle baby is so beautiful - thanks for the photos

can you handle a few more big hairy spider photos?

I've been moving some stuff around, so I've had Marieke's cage sitting on the living room floor for a couple of days
normally I don't see that much of her, since we keep different hours, so it kind of surprised me to see her out in the open this morning, looking kind of grey and scruffy

I think she was asleep, because after moved the cage to get a better look, she stretched her legs slowly and ambled off to her lair
interestingly, once she got moving she also got to look more like her normal self - iridescent greenish black

and since the cage is sitting out and I can easily turn it - here's a "behind the scene" look of the lair Marieke retreats to

Lovely pink-toed . Back when I went to pick up Sky and Spazz the woman I got them from had quite a collection. 80+ from what I remember including a beautiful ornamental.

Tank, common snapping turtle(Chelydra sepentina) woke up from his afternoon nap and allowed me a great photo shoot.

It is so nice to be able to get up close and personal with a snapping turtle.
Tank is comfortable with all the activity in the house and the constant attention he gets. If no one is paying attention to him he partially comes out of his enclosure until somebody notices him and lays down to talk with him.
I keep an old toothbrush by his enclosure for scrub down purposes. He aloud me to brush his head the other night. He rested his head in one of my hands while I scrubbed.
This is one awesome turtle. He weighed in at 4.65 lbs tonight. That's .65 lbs in 2 weeks.
He still shows signs of be young so I'm guessing he's still got a lot of growing to do.

A lot more growing to do. 5lbs in nothing for a snapper.

I guess what I meant was until he was in the adult stage of life, which I have been told is around 6-7 pounds.
His barbels are still rather underdeveloped and the prominent thick tail base is still a work in progress.
I still call him a little boy.
