Goodness I hope that wasnt the same rain we got in Illinois today. It was never ending and definitely not what you need!

I think it was the same storm system.
My street has returned to normal but the water table is up more now due to the heavy rain.
I remember when the tornado came through our neighborhood. Within moments it was over and we could start the recovery process.
This high water is going to be with us for 2-3 months. The threat of a levee failure is a second by second threat. It's the waiting that is the hardest.
I don't want to be away from the house at all in the event we have to evacuate.
A flooded basement would kill all my snakes.

Definitely..it would be a lot of pressure to deal with it for such an extended time..

So you have a place lined up to go if needed? Caring for 300 snakes without tanks/setups for months is just well....errrrmmm. They are tough and resilient though.

Plan as best you can and remember we all live by grace. We can only do so much.

    I'm fortunate to know I won't be given anything I can't handle.

Okay not that it is needed...but...if shelter for 300 plus snakes and a couple of dogs and snapping turtles and birds such is required for a few months...

Hit the google/craigs list for depressed small towns with cheap rural rental properties. If it has a roof and power and is above the floodline it is good!

If the landlord asks say it is you and you and your kid. Eviction takes a few months; credit rating be darned. Sheesh Steve this is worrisome.

The problem in this midwest situation is, hot weather is just as likely to worsen the flood situation as pouring rain would.
