Same species bit me a few years back. (introduced and thriving in the NW) Within 72 hours I had a fever, a purple knot the size of a golf ball, with red streaks going up my arm. I was hospitalized. It wasn't the venom that does it, it's the ensuing infection by MRSA. They had to cut me open and pack the wound with iodine-soaked gauze strips. Had to keep the wound open and packed in order for it to heal from the inside out. Still have a scar. I've had several MRSA boils just pop up out of nowhere, elsewhere on my body, ever since that bite. They were just as bad as the bite, only I didn't wait 3 days to get treatment. Again, it's not the venom, it's the infection that gets you.

People are actually to blame for this. Hospitals, and the overuse of antibiotics over the years created this strain of staph. The spider is just a carrier.

Watching TV tonight I saw the Fiat commercial where they drive the cars into the water and they come ashore in the U.S.
While this is going on there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen "Fictionalized, Do Not Attempt"
Has it really come to that? Really. Are there people dumb enough.......... Never mind, just I answered my own question.

Actually my son saw that commercial and was like "Look, Mom! They have cars that can go under water now!"...Rofl.

So...listen to this...I walk into my living room last night and my ex-husband and our son are watching Rattlesnake Republic. The episode is about rounding up snakes to strip them of their skin, sell it, and then eat the meat of the snakes. I start flipping out! I'm yelling for them to turn off the damn show that my friends and I are working to get off the air. I tell them that show will not be watched in my house. My ex gets angry and pouts for a while and then leaves. Is he really that stupid? Does he not understand how that show would offend me? Now, I remember why I divorced him. Mind you, this is the same person who was watching Cops with my son. After he left, I had a talk with my son explaining what rattlesnake roundups are and why we are all working to get that banned and that show off the air. My son said he had no idea and was sorry. I told him I wanted him to love and appreciate all animals and never to watch shows like that. My stupid, pouting ex can expect a nice talk from me when he comes back. I am still angry. Even my mother said "How can he not understand why that show would offend you?"

I bought a new drill and it had pictures with big red x's of what not to do.
The best was a guy waist deep in water drilling a motor boat with the drill plugged in.

Most things you buy today have more pages of warnings than instructions.
