So the look of disbelief on the elderly couples faces as they looked from the little lonely candle burning in their hallway back to me trying to explain that through their mottled stain glass door it really did look like their hall was on fire....well I will take the stupidity prize today!!

to be fair, it was in a funny glass bowl which made it look bigger, and then the mottled stain glass window just distorted it and made it look huge.. wouldn't have slept if I had walked passed!

I remember a while back, the whole neighborhood was convinced we had been visited by a UFO. This went on night after night for quite some time. I even saw it myself. This thing was only seen at night, high at the top of a tree line. At night it looked like it was above the tree line, and moving a little. I decided to investigate during the daytime and found a mylar baloon caught in the trees. Hard to see during the day, but at night, it reflected moonlight.

Or enough science fact, for that matter. Any civilization smart enough to achieve interstellar travel might very well protect themselves from our microbes but do they give a damn about introducing foreign ones to our world? I just don't see them shaking bare hands with us without disasterous consequences for them, and us. It would be much safer to completey stay out of our atmosphere.
