Not to get to into it but the big reason for all of this talk is because of the mayans and thier calander correct? They are the ones who predicted this the only problem is they didn't know what light years were back then so according to them it would have already happened.

There's no prediction, their long count calendar just ends. Much like ours ends on December 31.

    Speaking of which:

The problem of having a cyclical time count, instead of a linear one. We can add years to our count indefinitely, but not months, weeks or days.

Maybe the guy who was making the calender just figured he go out far enough and quit.

I know some people who believe it 100% They also told me Y2K was going to be catastrophic.

Whatever happens happens and I can't change it anyway.

Y2K was a little bit different. There was a risk that systems that depend on accurate dates (archives, databases, possibly some navigation systems) could have been affected by it. Of course nothing even remotely world-ending would have happened, but it could have been a real (expensive) mess if we hadn't solved it. And we did solve it, it was no big deal.

There is no "end of the world" specific date. The truth is, the world has been in the process of rapid change for some time now. Therefore the end of the world as we (humanity) know it is already occuring. Mass extinction and rapid climate change is already in full swing. When the "dust settles" the world will be very different from what we know it to be, but all of us here will be long dead before then. My point is, it's a process, not a single event or specific day. Even if it takes tens of thousands of years, it's still practically overnight in geological time.

Well, the world will end in a few billion years. Fortunately, this isn't the only world in the galaxy.
