    That's because it's a good story - mostly fiction.

    Work Benefits

So just when I decide no more snakes, work decides to enable me AGAIN! A snake has been hanging around and everyone had seen it but me. Then they caught it and tried to save it for me but it got loose! Then someone was doling up medication for a dog and reached into the pill jar shelf and came back with a snake! Now normally I would take it home and release it in a more wild place than the suburban vet hospital but we just had our first few hard freezes so I'm gonna try wintering the little guy at my place. Its definitely NOT a garter. I'm 90% sure its a baby black rat snake but what do you guys think? ( I can't stand black snakes! The ones I have run into are far too grumpy! )

It looks like a young Fox Snake. Not sure if they are common to your area.
Very nice snake if that's what it is.
    Glad it was found.
I have two young ones that were born on the Ranch. One if not both will be leaving on Thurs. I've gotten them jobs with some of the local conservation officers.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.
