I was just asked to weld someone into a box. welding is very useful and practical, but wth? I don't even know what to think of that...

Has anyone else gotten truly bizarre requests like that? I'd love to hear them, I need a laugh after that disturbing conversation.

I asked that very question and was told they "liked to be kept captive" whatever that means. I was entirely too busy imagining the heat rising in a metal box with a strange little fella inside... I've not yet decided what his issue is, but one part of it is a complete lack of familiarity with what welding actually is.

edit to add: I no longer really worry about the why when asked to do odd welding jobs for the most part. I've now been asked to do a few strange jobs, but this oe is just so, well... deadly. I just have to wonder.

I was just sent a link to a prank call about being welded in a box. Perhaps this fella was trying to pull a prank, and just did not know they work better over the phone. In any case I prefer that answer to any I could come up with.

well it sounds sort of that way to me too. I did ask him if he knew anything about welding, and explained one was melting the metal together. he had no clue. of if he did he managed to pull off a convincing clueless confused act. In any case, I am not going to worry about him, I sent him off to find his death elsewhere. But if anyone else wants to share odd requests I'm looking forward to reading them...
