Just my 5 cents... garters ARE exotic in Europe. Still, they are uncommon.

Sergey - ppl don't keep grass snakes because they are under protection. At least here, in EU; dunno if they are in Russia though...
Kleopatra - never forget. [*]; Lamprophis fuliginosus, male - Amon; Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis, male - Izy; Pantherophis guttatus anerythristic, female, Nefretete; Lampropeltis sinaloae - Vita.

Sorry, I was speaking in terms of the united states. I hear from a friend in germany that garter snakes in Europe are quite popular.

It's not like they are unknown. But for every 100 (or maybe 1000) corns, there is one garter.

that's kind of how it is here if you go to pet stores - there are hardly ever garters, and even at reptile shows they're hard to find
so if one doesn't live where they naturally occur, it's just like Europe

Advertised as the Indonesian garter snake(Xenochrophis vittatus)
Usually in poor health with a heavy parasite load.
I would love to have pair but don't want add to their importation and exploitation.
I think Shannon has a couple or was going to get them.
