I am gonna have to move this thread into the "other pets" thread. Nothing against you or your lovely new milk! Just what we do

anyways, I have never had trouble getting an eastern milk to eat. In fact all of the ones I have ever housed were all from the wild and all ate f/t rodents as their first meal. The albino my mom caught in our yard is eating like a horse... chowing down on f/t pinks! Give the snake plenty of places to hide. nice and low to the ground. Leave a f/t rodent underneath the snake's favorite hiding place after she settles in for a bit. That's how I started any of the ones I've ever cared for. Heck my boyfriend's dad brought me a juvenile that had some nasty scabbed over wounds all over him, looked as if he were attacked by a pecking bird.... even he desperately tried to eat a pinky right out of my hands. He couldn't though... something wasn't right and he seemed unable to actually pick the thing up and eat it... and he didn't make it. good luck with her! If she refuses to eat, make sure you set her free early enough for her to go find a place to brumate!

I think we've created a monster(nice one) in the house. Tank likes to catch some sleep while she's out of the container. I am so amazed her her docile attitude towards the entire family. She is a one-of-a-kind turtle.
The second photo on the left clearly shows a content sleeping turtle.
Curved neck, one leg along the neck and the other pushed back.

Injury doesn't look too bad. Probably got bit by a protective mother rodent as her babies were being eaten. Give that snake plenty of hides, as has already been mentioned, and don't disturb it too much. Doesn't hurt to have some moist areas/hides too.

I've had a few garters that were "jittery" and shy about eating. Putting a pinky or piece of fish in their favorite hide and leaving them alone for a few hours sometimes works and get's them to eat.

A milk snake like yours should be fed pinkies. Try thawing and moistening one for her, then back off an give her plenty of privacy. You should probably wait a week or even two weeks before trying this.

Looks more like some kind of jumping spider. Of course, I'm probably wrong.

Once in a while I find really big jumping spiders on the south outside wall of my house. They look just like that guy but jet black with deep red. Really cool looking.

its Cyriocosmus elegans a dwarf tarantula species from Trinidad Island, they max out at about 2 inches, one of my favorites

Very cool Joe! I have not got into the spiders they are next on my list. My female Hadrurus arizonensis just had babies. It is the first time I have been able to get her to breed with my male, now I am just hoping the babies make it to their second instar.
