Here is a picture of it.

When it fell off from the frostbite, I used silvadine cream every day while it healed. There was bone showing

Poor thing, you're doing a great job nursing her back.

    Thank you Zoe

Her bite scars are all gone too, I think we were both very lucky to have found each other.

It was 27 degrees and dropping out the night I found her, and it was only like 10:00 pm at the time.

I flipped a board looking for slugs to feed my Dekayi's and she was coiled up under the wood and not moving at all.

After I brought her in and warmed her up I expected hostility, and instead found her to be as calm as a corn snake.

The first time I fed her, it was a live mouse, she grabbed it by the back legs and the mouse turned on her. Silly girl did not know enough to let go, they struggled a bit, then I reached in the tank and conked the mouse over the head.

She eats frozen thawed mice only now

that is such a great story... Carmella loves you for it!!

Do you think she was someone's pet & they either didn't want it anymore, or they lost it?

Very much doubt it Stephanie, I live in a community of people who fear the "spotted adder" and shovel them on sight.

She is just a rare find, The population around here is "healthy" I find several every summer, but nearly all are flighty and nervous.

One of the most amusing things is they will imitate a rattle snake as self defense. I saw a baby a couple summers ago he reared up his little head, and shook his tail violently against the ground to try and scare me away.

Here is a wild photo I took in 2006 out in my back yard...

better yet.... every north american ratsnake, milksnake, and kingsnake are prone to vibrate their tails upon being upset!!! Oh how I just LOVE my juvenile ratsnakes and their tail shakes!!! I love walking into my snake room and hearing 4 or 5 tails start rattling at my presence

Carmella looks wonderfullll! what a lovely spotted adder she is! My two wee ones are very calm also! Every other I've ever met as an adult, is... well, just plain nasty! This adult female told me where to go!!!

Mother of many snakes and a beautiful baby girl! I am also a polymer clay artist!

    Re: Wayne's reptile room

Now compare that face to Carmella, and you can see the difference in temperament.

That picture (Shannon took) is far more indicative of the species than Carmella.

That's why she is so special, cuz she is "Special"
